大家早上好。
Good morning, ladies and gentlemen.

今天，我非常荣幸能从爱知县丰田下山技术中心，向亲临现场的各位来宾、以及通过全球直播收看本场活动的各位朋友，致以最热烈的欢迎。
It’s my great pleasure to welcome all of you both here in person and those joining live from around the world to the Toyota Technical Center Shimoyama here in Aichi, Japan.

这里是为了“制造更好的汽车”而设立的，在全球范围内都独一无二的场所。
A place unlike any other in the world. Built for one purpose. To create ever better cars.

一直以来，这类设施几乎从未向公众开放，但这一次却打破了惯例。
Now, these facilities have not traditionally been open to the public, but times have changed.

丰田章男先生不仅仅将这里视为车辆研发的场所，更将其定位为与地区民众共生的地方，因此决定将这里向公众开放。
Because Akio (Toyoda)-san understands that the automotive industry is more than just business, it’s part of the local culture.

就在两年前的今天，他曾站在此处，宣布要将此地打造为LEXUS雷克萨斯与GR品牌的“一线”。
Just two years ago, nearly to the day, he stood on this very spot and declared that this facility would become the spiritual heart of the Lexus and GR brands.

“一线”，是孕育未来的地方。
The “genba,” the place where the future is made.

在这里，汽车反复经历“行驶、破坏、修复”的过程。至少在“破坏”这一环节，章男先生会亲自参与其中。
A place where we “drive, break, at least in Akio-san’s case, and fix” cars.

研发人员将车辆推向极限直至损坏，当场修复后再次行驶。设计师、工程师、机械师和驾驶员融为一体，不断打磨每一辆汽车。
Pushing them to the limit, breaking them, fixing them on the spot, and driving again. Designers, engineers, mechanics, and drivers working together as one to refine the car.

正如Master Driver（首席试车手）成濑先生所言“道路造就汽车”，而这里正是这样的“一线”。
A place where, as Master Driver Naruse-san said, “Roads make cars.”

今天是个非常值得高兴的日子。因为今天是新款车型首次在下山亮相，也是近健太社长上任后的新体制下推出的第一款车型。
So, how appropriate it is that today marks not only the first unveiling of a new model here at Shimoyama, but also, the first under our new President, Mr. Kon.

近社长曾表示“自己是财务出身”，但实际上，他也深度参与了当前的车辆研发工作，只不过身份是投资家。
Now, I know that he said he’s a money guy. But in many ways, he played a big part in the development of today’s vehicles. As an investor.

对人进行投资，对未来进行投资。近社长以坚定的意志，推行着各种面向未来的综合投资。
An investor in people, and an investor in the future. He understands how to use resources with intent.

下山技术中心以及Woven City，都是他在担任CFO期间的成果，充分体现了他的理念。建筑、汽车测试场、硬件，仅有这些毫无意义，只有当人参与其中，这一切才被赋予价值。
Shimoyama and Woven city, both established during his time as Chief Financial Officer, are a reflection of that thinking. Buildings, test courses, and hardware mean nothing without people.

But the step into electrification can also come at a price. Whether that’s reduced interior space due to aerodynamic requirements, or maybe its anxiety around battery capacity, or towing capacity that doesn’t meet your lifestyle needs.

The truth of the matter is that one of the biggest hurdles in battery electric car ｄdevelopment is how to make a car where there’s no need to put yourself or your lifestyle, second to the needs of the vehicle.

As Akio-san often says, innovation and product adoption are always driven by the customer.
